Norma Jean Teagarden of Jurupa Valley, CA passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2022, her 90th birthday, in Ontario, California. Norma was born in Phillips, Texas on November 23, 1932, to Charles and Averial Fouty. The family eventually followed the American dream and moved to Paramount, California. She graduated from Paramount High School and worked several jobs, including a gas station attendant, before meeting her husband, Roger. They married in March of 1954 and, in 1956, moved to the Jurupa area. They loved the close-knit atmosphere and threw themselves into their community. Norma enjoyed volunteering with the Van Buren PTA and Pedley Volunteer Fire Department in an era when women volunteered as caregivers and gave of themselves as a supporting member, regardless of the importance of their role. She loved to square dance and spent endless hours in their jeep. She bowled in national tournaments on teams consisting of family and close friends. Her greatest love and most important job, though, was as a wife and full-time mom. She loved her husband and her kids, and then her grandkids, too. Her heart was always ready to grow. She shared many moments with neighborhood children who considered her the "neighborhood mom” and she was the first to take over care of a destitute animal.
Preceding her in death were her parents Charles and Averial Fouty, her sisters, Vivian Divinney and Jorene Dennis; her brothers Chuck Fouty and Baby Fouty and her loving husband of 46 years, Roger Dean Teagarden.
Norma Teagarden was the most loving person most of us will ever know and she will forever be missed. Her memory is kept on by her children, son John Teagarden and wife Melody of Jurupa Valley, CA, son Donald Teagarden of Jurupa Valley, CA, daughter Rhonda Sell and husband Randy of Silver Springs, NV, and daughter Donna Mast and husband Tim of Jurupa Valley, CA; her sister, Wanda Weaver of Paramount, CA; her grandchildren, Jennifer Teagarden (Larry), Chris Gettis (Michelle), Travis Teagarden, Joe Theiss (Mindy), Mike Gettis, Allison Cross (Johnny), Nick Theiss (Ashley), Steven Gettis (Cynthia), Roger H. Teagarden, Tim Mast, Jr (Eli), Laura Teagarden and Katie Mast; her great-grandchildren, Samantha, Danniella, Madison, Grant, Aiden, Zuma, Mikelyn, Emily, John, Ivy, Ruby, Violet, and Hazel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Not listed, but always in her heart, are the many people who considered her a Mom, Grandma, Friend and the all accepting Miss T.
