Rebecca Salgado Ortega Hernandez, passed away on September 2, 2019. Rebecca was born in Riverside CA on April 5, 1961 to Thomas and Angela Ortega. Rebecca graduated from Norte Vista High School in 1979. After graduating high school Rebecca continued with establishing her 36 year career with Stater Bros Market as a produce clerk/cashier where she retired on January 24, 2019. She worked in Stater Bros stores all over the Inland Empire servicing Grand Terrace, Colton, Redlands, and finished her career in Beaumont. Rebecca was a devoted Daughter who cared for her parents throughout their illnesses and until their death. Rebecca continued to care for her parents as she tended to her parent’s gravesite weekly and referred to it as her “garden”. In 1999, she met her Husband Gilbert and her soon to be stepchildren Nicole and Gilly. Rebecca and Gilbert welcomed their son Miguel in 2001. Miguel was and is her pride and joy. As a Mother, Rebecca was devoted to being there for not only her children but to her nephews and nieces as she was always present to celebrate any milestone. Rebecca was also a kind heart that made many friends over the years and was always known for her welcoming smile and her tremendous generosity.
Rebecca enjoyed traveling as she and Gilbert often visited Nicole and Gilly during their time in the military to Missouri, Texas, Kansas, South Carolina, and North Carolina. In July 2019, Rebecca took her last trip to Fort Jackson, South Carolina where she witnessed her son Miguel graduate from Basic Training and become a Soldier in the United States Army. Rebecca was a proud Mother, Grandmother, and loving Wife.
Rebecca also treasured her 3 Grandchildren- Gabriel, Gavin, and Gracie. Rebecca was also a dog Mom to Oso who she named after her Father. She loved going to the beaches in California, Hawaii, and Cabo San Lucas. She enjoyed her daily morning 4 mile walks around Beaumont as well as working in her yard and tending to her plants. Rebecca loved Angel’s baseball, scary movies, decorating, sunflowers, knick knacks and peanut M&M ‘s. Her home was always full of pictures of those she loved and those who loved her.
She is survived by her husband Gilbert; son Miguel; 2 stepchildren, Nicole and Gilly; 3 grandchildren; a sister Christina and brothers, Thomas and Robert. She also leaves behind 5 nephews and a niece.
