Richard Eugene “Rick” Bennett, born on August 19, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas, passed from this life at the age of 73, on Veterans Day, 11/11/2025, at the Veterans Hospital in Fresno, California. He was the beloved son of O.D. and Louise Bennett.
Rick attended 9th and 10th grade in Indio, California and 11th grade in Brownwood, Texas. He completed his GED while in the US Army. He received his Honorable discharge after a severe knee injury.
Rick lived in Norco, California for 25 years. He was the manager for Goats 4 Brush where he worked diligently caring for a herd of weed abatement goats and often worked closely with several fire departments and city officials in Southern California on brush control for fire prevention. He was very proud of his position and role and could often be heard proudly telling people he was a “goat herder” and gaining peoples reactions to that simple and blunt statement.
Besides his job, Rick’s other loves included baseball, Rock and Roll music and all things Harley Davidson. During the season, he was diligently watching Dodgers baseball always looking for a win and remembering “the good old days” where he played on his teams as a pitcher. His favorite artists included: Van Halen, Journey, Lynard Skynyrd, and of course The Eagles. He was found as often as possible at concerts even taking his sister or niece with him. His other dream was to have a Harley, but later in life settled on a royal blue Charger, which he enjoyed driving around town and cranking up his radio to favorite songs by Queen or AC/DC.
The last year of his life, Rick lived in Hanford, Ca where he had moved to be close to his sister and was able to enjoy time with her throughout that year.
