

Richard Simon Drobek (Rick) passed on July 8, 2026, at the age of 74. He was born in Frankfort Germany to Thaddeus Drobek and Mary Hrabchak, while his father was serving as a Lt. Colonel in the US Army. In 1959, his parents moved to Carmel, California. Rick graduated from Carmel High School in 1970. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Rick was a proud fraternity brother of Phi Kappa Tau. In 1977 Rick was hired by the City of Riverside Public Utilities Department. He served his community for 30 years as a Water Engineer and Construction Contracts Manager. At the time of his death, Rick was still registered with the State of California Professional Engineers.
Many of his dear friends will remember Rick for his fine cuisine. He enjoyed preparing delicious meals, including his famous guacamole, chips and salsa. He created the best ingredients for his margaritas that he enjoyed with so many friends. He had great taste in red wine and collected many fine varieties.
His charm, compassion and cleverness made him standout. He was dedicated to physical attractiveness, which he did very well. He enjoyed playing racquetball and watching sport games such as football and golf. He loved his annual trips to Puerto Vallarta, and spending time with friends.
Rick is survived by his wife, Arlene Armendariz, and his brother Thaddeus W. Drobek, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, and of course Dobbs. Rick was an organ donor, so he will continue to live on by sharing the gift of Life.
No service will be held, but he requested a Celebration of Life to be scheduled in the near future.
