Robert Martin “Bob” Blender, age 87, of Norco, California, died on Friday, April 29 at Parkview Community Hospital in Corona, California. Born in Hays, Kansas to Franklin and Hazel (née Solomon) Blender, Bob grew up in Orange County, California and graduated from Garden Grove High School.
Bob spent most of his working life as a cement contractor where he poured many foundations and drive-thrus for Carl’s Jr. restaurants all throughout California. He even poured the backyard patio of Carl Karcher’s house before one of his daughter’s wedding.
Known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, Bob could be subtly or overtly funny, and his humor was always spot-on, summing up a situation with a unique and comical perspective. He was also an extremely hard worker, a car and motorcycle enthusiast, a prudent money-saver, a lover of square bottle, and could often be stubborn. When asked to do something that he didn’t want to do, his response would usually be, “F*%k it!” Other times when he was trying to let you down nicely, he would just say, “Bull s#$t!”
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Nicole; his children, Suzanne Blender, Brian Blender, and Neil Blender; and his five grandchildren, Heather, Maggie, Claire, Cole, and Adam. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anita (née Blender) Pryor.
In lieu of flowers, please just save your money; Bob would have preferred this. However, if you feel you want to honor him in some way, buy a bottle of Jim Beam (or your favorite beverage), and raise a glass to Bob - or not. He wouldn’t really care either way.
