Ladies and gentlemen, we gather here today to honor and celebrate the life of my dear brother, Robert William Butts. Robert earned his wings on July 11, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. His journey through life was a testament to extraordinary courage and resilience. Even in the face of immense challenges, he faced each day with unwavering determination and positivity, never once complaining.
Born on July 28, 1956, in San Diego, California, Robert spent his early years in the warm and vibrant embrace of his hometown. Later, his family relocated to Riverside, where he spent the majority of his adult life. In Riverside, Robert worked diligently in various warehouse jobs as a forklift driver, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication to every task he undertook.
Outside of work, Robert found immense joy in life's simple pleasures, particularly fishing and spending quality time with his loved ones. His enjoyment of these moments reflected a deep appreciation for the everyday blessings life had to offer.
Robert's life was not without its hardships. He was preceded in death by our parents, William and Guadalupita Butts, and our brother, Terry Lawrence Maestas. Despite these losses, Robert’s spirit remained resilient and strong. He is survived by his three children—Bobbie Channel Butts, Robert William Butts Jr., and Brent Alexander Butts—as well as nine cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Margaret Hudson (spouse James), Arthur Maestas, Benita Kennon, Virginia Knox, and Frances Johnson.
Robert's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends. His life was marked by grace, strength, and profound impact. Today, as we remember him, we celebrate his many achievements and the deep influence he had on those who knew him. May his spirit rest in peace, and may we continue to carry forward the lessons of courage and positivity he so richly exemplified.
