I remember Robert when Uncle Frank, Aunt Cara, Robert, Norman, and Loretta came to visit us in Kansas in the 1950s. I was in the field next to the road and we were cutting silage when I saw the green and white Oldsmobile drive up the road. It was our first of many meetings. When I saw that new car I was sure that Uncle Frank was my rich uncle. I was sure he had to be rich to be able to afford a new car and take a trip all the way from California to Arkansas and back. Years later Robert informed me that when he saw the farm in Kansas he thought my dad was his rich uncle. We both had a good laugh.
Later while we were both in the Air Force and I was in Navigator training at Mather AFB I would go visit Uncle Frank and Aunt Clara on weekends. As soon as I arrived Uncle Frank and I would go get some fresh loves of bread and by the time we got back Aunt Clara would have the artichoke hearts ready. We feasted on them.
I visited Robert and Jacqueline when they were stationed at Fairchild AFB and had great time. They took me on a tour of Eastern Washington to see all the sites.

I was deeply saddened today when Marjorie called me to inform me of Robert's death. Deanna and I will keep him in our prayers and we extend our sympathies to all the family.
