I had the great honor and privilege while attending UCR to serve as an intern in the Senator's Sacramento office in 1979. Senator Presley and his staff inspired me as to their integrity, hard work and dedication to the people of California.

Senator Presley was so highly respected by both sides of the aisle, and was often sought out for important co-sponsorships because of his reputation.

My experience in working under him with his fine staff inspired me as I later embarked upon my legal career. I really don't know if the citizens in his District understood how lucky they were to have him represent them.

I am so sad to belatedly learn of his passing. But I am so grateful of his example.

My Father in law VIRGIL Lamont (Cherokee) and my Mother in law Sally Lamont (Cherokee) were very good friends with Robert and Oniwake I have a picture of Robert and Virgil standing in front of a old car after they were back home in Oklahoma after the service ! His wife Oniwake (Cherokee) was best friends with my mother in law Sally Lamont (Cherokee) I have a photo album that oniwake gave to Sally a very long time ago and it shows them together A real treasure!!! They all moved to California on or about the late 40’s Virgil and Sally always had very fond memories of Robert and Oniwake

I only knew Bob as a puff of white hair barely visible over the wall that separated our back yards for the first three months after I moved in. Bob's idea of a face to face introduction 10 years ago was to park his car crooked on my driveway, rush up to me on my porch with a badge in his left hand barking the following order, "Are ya coming with me peacefully or do I need to call the boys?" That is how I met Bob. I feel blessed to have known him, conversed with him and to have listened to his stories of the past. I only regret is that he always used Ontario International Airport instead of Los Angeles Airport. Using LA would have extended our conversation time as I drove him to catch a plane.

For over fifty years I have known Senator Presley as neighbor, undersheriff, state senator, family friend, confidante, counselor and voice of reason. He was a giant of a man, a real life icon and a straight shooter; to me, he seemed invincible. He was a pragmatic and skilled politician who knew how to get things done...without sacrificing his integrity.

Writing legislation and creating policies that improve the lives of future generations requires hard work and sacrifice. The citizens of Riverside County owe a debt of gratitude to Senator Presley for the clean air they breathe...and also to his family for sacrificing their husband and father for extended periods of time. Some of my clearest teenage memories are of working on my motorcycle in the garage late on a Friday night and Senator Presley would pull his sedan with the “SS-36” license plate into his driveway. Even after working all week in Sacramento, flying to Ontario and then driving to Riverside, he always waved and said hello to me. The image of him walking to the house, briefcase in hand, with his tie finally loosened around his neck is one I will respect and cherish forever.

My heart goes out to Bob, Marilyn, Donna and the entire Presley family, as well as his countless friends and constituents.

Rest In Peace, Senator Presley, you earned it.

As my dad, Bob Craig, mentioned, we all loved hearing about Uncle Robert from my Granny, his sister (MaryJo) She was SOOO very proud of him! In fact a black and white life size poster still hangs in her home she had in Muskogee, Oklahoma before she passed!! I was lucky enough to have traveled with my Grandma MaryJo and Grandpa Derwood to California as a very young child to visit Uncle Robert (I also remember that fantastic swimming pool)!!! Thoughts and prayers for the family!

My mom's (Mary Jo Presley Craig) oldest & last sibling was always such a great "Uncle" Bob - mom said that was whom I was named after (I hope it was true!)! When we were young going to California was such a great trip -he and Aunt Ahni had a swimming pool! Great for the "Okie" clan who swam in Baron Fork creek! After my parents passed in the last two years Uncle Bob would call and we would visit - he would educate me on all things political ( he was so brilliant & well read!) and I got to keep him Updated on Oklahoma Sooner Football! Man I'll sure miss those talks! My prayers are with my Cali Cousins Donna, Marilyn, & Bob. Thanks so much for sharing you unbelievable dad with all of us!

My Uncle Bob, my sister Evelyn's (Evie) Uncle Bob ---- we have lost the last uncle we had but Aunt Ahni and Uncle Bob are together again. He made us laugh and was so caring in so many ways. We loved and will always remember him and his voice, such a distinctive voice , always answered the phone, " Robert Presley here "
We are so happy he was part of our lives -- we are so blessed to have had him and our Aunt Ahni in our lives.
God Bless all the family and our prayers are with everyone of you.
