There's not a love story quite like this, he loved her so and she him. Determination to say the least to get her attention and the rest, well, simply said, beginnings of a Love Story.
Uncle Sam took him away and placed him in Europe, as a military policeman. There were two sets of military housing, one British the other, American on the base. 
One night on leave, Rountree and a few of his buddies went over to the hall to dance. They're objective was to dance with every girl at the hall. Of course, always making it worth while and fun, there was a bet placed between them. 
It wasn't a bet to see how many more girls you danced with, (even that was a part of it) oh no, that was too easy. Ha!
So here it went, dance with every girl in the hall and you can't talk to them, not one. If you did, during that dance, you buy the beer for ALL of them. Easy said.
Easy done. Or so Rountree thought. 
Everything was going smoothly. This is going to be a piece of cake, free beer and dancing with some pretty girls to boot. Until he saw her. As pretty as can be, she was. He asked to her dance, after that song was over, he asked her again. He couldn't hold it in anymore, he had to talk to her. Find out more about this pretty Lady with her beautiful smile. 
He didn't care about that silly bet, about losing. Which is alot said, since he didn't like losing to anything. But it didn't care, he knew he would regret it if he kept playing. What is your name? He asked. She didn't respond. Maybe the music is too loud? He asked again. She just responded with that beautiful smile and shrugged her shoulders. 
What is really going on? Did she have the same bet as we did? She kept smiling. They kept dancing. He kept asking about other things about her. He doesn't know how long it was before, he realized she didn't speak any English. 
After the music died down at bit and his beer tab was getting bigger by each dance; he asked her if she would like to step away for a moment. With her broken English she accepted a date with him, on one condition~ spoken by her in pretty good English,that was well understood by Rountree.
Her sister must go to.

I will always remember the laughter shared with my sweet Uncle Rountree & Aunt Greta over fresh squeezed orange juice while playing in the pool. Heaven has gained a great man.

Stories. Stories about the farm. I loved hearing about them and Uncle Rountree, like Grandpa, loved telling them.
So here it goes, a story about a young boy, named Rountree Cowan, who worked hard for his money and learned how to reinvest it, while his Daddy was probably caught off guard at times at how smart this young boy really was.
There were three farms that needed to be worked on, hauling hay whatever that was needed, it was done. Pay was pretty good back then at $1.50 per day for each farm~ And with three farms, yep I could say he was doing pretty well. 
It was hard work but it was worth it for Rountree, who had aspirations of his own becoming his own boss. A boy with an American dream.
Back to his story~
One evening during dinner, his Daddy noticed a new watch that he was wearing. He asked him, "When did you get that watch?" 
Rountree looked up at his Daddy and proudly said, "Well, I just bought it." Knowing that he worked hard and he earned every bit of that beautiful watch. 
"Well," his Daddy continued, "how much did you pay for it?" And Rountree told him. Daddy responded back, "You know you could have bought a cow with that money."
Rountree looked at his new watch and then back at his Daddy, "I know Daddy but I got three cows already and only one watch."
