Ruben Ballesteros Orduno

Ruben B. Orduno of Corona, California passed away in San Diego on August 8, 2025, at the age of 92, after spending days with his family by his side. He was born on March 16, 1933, in Douglas, Arizona to Cruz and Maria Orduno.

When Ruben was just a boy, his family moved to California and Corona became his home. He met the love of his life, Mary Murga, in middle school. They were married in September of 1950 and were just about to celebrate their 75th anniversary. Ruben was very proud of the life and family the two had built together.

Ruben and Mary were devout members of St. Edwards Catholic Church for 72 years and later became members of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Service to God and his community was so important. Over the years, Ruben served in the Eucharistic Ministry, Charismatic Leader, and the Prison Ministry.

Ruben was a hardworking man in every way; he made a career as a heavy-duty mechanic for 3M Co. He worked on their large equipment including earthmovers, excavators, and water trucks to ensure the safety and productivity of the mine. In retirement he continued to put his mechanical skills to work, working on the church busses and other vehicles. He was also a skilled welder.

In his free time, Ruben loved to be with his family. Vacations in their motorhome are memories that his wife and children will always cherish. Ruben also liked to bake cookies and yeast bread. He was also known for his homemade salsa. Listening to worship music brought him peace and watching Andy Griffin brought him humor. Ruben could light up a room with his smile that never seemed to fade.

Ruben leaves behind his biggest accomplishment, his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Orduno; 10 children, Lydia, Esther, Estella, Carmen, Dorothy, Mary, Patricia, Ruben, Richard, and Christina; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 12 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters.

Ruben will be fondly remembered and always loved by his family and friends.

A visitation/rosary for Ruben will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 25, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Roman Catholic Church, 8540 Weirick Rd, Corona, CA 92883. A committal service will occur Monday, August 25, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Corona Sunnyslope Cemetery, 1125 Rimpau Ave, Corona, CA 92879.
