Ryan David Hawkins was a spunky, vivacious, busy boy born to Richard and Sherri Hawkins in 1982. We call him our little miracle because an infertility specialist stated 3 days after Sherri became pregnant that “it would be a miracle” if Sherri ever did become pregnant. We were so very blessed to welcome him into our home and raise him for 18 amazing years.
Ryan was an energetic, fun loving, rambunctious, extraverted and determined little boy. He did everything at full speed. He loved being first in all things, especially timed school drills. It didn’t matter that his answers were correct. It only mattered that he put his pencil down first. He applied his many gifts to his sports teams at which he greatly excelled. His NJB team won the Inland Empire Basketball Championship at age 12, by age 11 he was a black belt in martial arts and had won many national tournaments. His golf stroke was extremely smooth and easy and his cross country achievements are well chronicled. While he always strove to be the very best, it was important that he motivate his team to accomplish great things together. Because of his team building efforts and his excellent leadership qualities Ryan was selected as a 2 year captain of his high school and his college cross country teams.
Ryan graduated from The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, CA with the early hope of going into the ministry. However, his plans changed and he spent his adult years in marketing organizations. He did so well that he sold the first national account for his employer and lead the office in sales 5 of the 6 years he worked there. He was gifted of speech, inherently honest and very smooth.
Ryan was a deep thinker with an avid interest in reading books on Bible scripture and church doctrine. His relationship with the Lord was very important to him, and as his body weakened during the final weeks he repeatedly said, “I just want to go home” to be eternally with God. Now, he is home…resting and at peace.
He is survived by his family (Richard, Sherri and Paige), 3 aunts (Jackie Ryn, Laurie Guillen and Lisa Holley), 3 uncles (David Hawkins, Phillip Guillen and Bob Holley), 5 cousins (PJ Ryn, Amy Foster, Shawna and Kyle Guillen and Duncan Holley) and his very best friend, “My Brother,” Giovanni Contreras.
