Sam, the first time I met you I knew that you loved my sister. It was an honor to have met you. I will always remember the peach cobbler you made for us because you wanted something sweet to eat, so every time I see a peach cobbler now I think of you. Today was one of the hardest things I had to do today was to lay you down to rest. I will always remember you. You have been so good to me since day one. You took care of me and my girls like I was one of your own and I love you for that. I sure will miss all our beautiful talks and I will cherish them. I love you Sam Rest easy.

Dearest Uncle Sam,

You are such a blessing to have as my uncle.  While I didn’t see you as often as I wish I could have, I always cherished the times I did see you.  The many talks we had will always remain in my head, and in my heart .  I have voice messsges on my phone that I will treasure forever.  I loved how you always made it a point to stop and see me when you came to Colorado, and how just because I was no longer married in to my Trevino family, you always assured me that to you, I would always be your niece.  While it hurts us all not to have you here, I am so glad god took away all of your pain, and reunited you with not only Grandma, and Grandpo, but your sisters and brothers, and other family members too.  This is not goodbye my loving uncle, it is simply RIP, until I see you again,  after you have hugged all of your family, please hug my mom for me.  I love you!! Forever your niece,  Mona Maestas.

My Dearest Brother, Sam,
You left me too soon.  I understand, to see you in such pain.  I know you are truly in a better place, with mom , dad and our brothers and sisters (my love and hugs to all of them).
Our love for each other was like no other, I will always cherish and never forget!  I know you always cared and thought of me often, especially in my time of sickness.  You called me everyday to see how I was doing and to share your day with me, you never forgot me.
I felt special and appreciated when you would introduce me to your friends "this is my brother", and to family I was always referred to as "my baby brother".  I always enjoyed and looked forward to when you came to visit, the excitement of you being here brought our family together!  We always had many laughs and sometimes got in trouble.  You always were a wonderful host to us too, making us feel welcomed and treating us with a baked goodie. I could share so much more, but for now, know I will always love you.
Rest in peace brother, you are in a better place! We will be together someday, but for now ,your memories rest close to my heart.

Siento mucho la situación por la que deben estar pasando la familia de Samuel. La pérdida de un ser querido siempre es muy difícil. Solamente quería compartir un pensamiento que por lo menos me ha dado mucho consuelo. Se encuentra en Juan 5:28,29 donde Dios nos asegura que vendrá el día en que volvamos a ver a nuestros seres queridos. Espero que esta escritura le pueda servir de consuelo.

So hard to write down in words how our entire family felt about you and your life you shared with us and how we are feeling now that you are gone. 
Out of the family members that I gained through marriage, I felt closest to you. You always called and checked in on all of us. You always cared so much. You knew the value of family and didn’t want us to forget it. I have many great memories of times spent with you and the family. Always laughing and sharing your memories with us to pass on. I will always treasure you and those moments with you forever.  We are all heartbroken, but we take comfort that you have moved on to be with your your family that you have been missing for so long. Please know that we loved you deeply and will be taking care of “your baby brother” ❤️

I am so sadden by your departure, you were always so good to both my parents and my dad loved you dearly he loved your company.   Thank you for being so kind to us and for your support.  I am so glad I got to visit with you one last time in june of 2018, we gonna miss you but will keep an eye on. CARMEN (HAY VIEJA) as you would call her .  Say hi to my parents, and please keep on eye on us.  May you rest in peace and see you soon. 

The day you left us is the day a piece of my heart went with you. You hold such a special place in my heart that not many are able to do and I am honored to have spent so many fun summers with you. I remember all the times we would sit and watch tv with tia carmen and we would laugh at how easily she would fall asleep on the ground. And I remember always bugging you for your ring..lol But most of all I remember the day you became my Nino. It was one of the happiest days of my life. And every time I think of you I think of your smiling face and your laugh. I'm gonna miss you tio Sam with all my heart.  So goodbye for now but not forever.  

Gonna miss our talks on the phone...thank you for keeping up with us kids in texas after your brother Joe passed and for your support and love when mom passed away..you always knew how to make us smile even when I was little ..God bless you say hello to family in heaven gonna miss you.....prayers for your wife and family whom you always spoke so highly of God bless...love you miss you ....

I am very sorry and saddened by the loss of Uncle Sam!  I am grateful for the time me and my family was able to share with you.
You have always been supportive!  I most appreciate the most recent time we spent together with our family, the time is Colorado in 2016 and most recently in June 2018.  I have many memories that I will never forget and will hold near to my heart.  You loved life, you loved the work you did and most importantly loved spending time with family!  I know the last few years were hard when you became sick but you never gave up.  I know you are in a better place and have no more aches and pains and are with loved ones who have passed.  I am happy I have good memories of you and will never forget.  I love you and will see you someday!
