There are so many, many memories of the good times with Stevie Boy and Teri that I remember and smile, despite the sadness.  The festivals, the golf games, the Opera (!), the theater, the Christmas Parties, the trips to the races, bowling, Halloween parties, Long Beach Blues festivals,  THE Who concert and many, many others (like the (ahem) sporting event pictured above)
We met not long after we moved to SoCal in 1993, (one thing I have the printing industry to be grateful for are the friends we met), and Edd and Steve became best buds. Any delivery to Rey Nelson Printing had to be taken by Edd! 
So blessed to have known him, and his lovely family.  Bless you and miss you,

I share my deepest sympathy with all of you for Steve's passing.  He was a friend and constant entertainment during the time I was privileged to spend with him and many of you.  Steve could make anyone laugh and truly wanted to laugh with you any chance he could,  Case in point, as mentioned by at least one other here, was Steve's annual New Years baby appearance and quite often (always?) with a wardrobe malfunction.

I finally found the photo of Matt, I and Uncle Steve in Napa Valley November 1998. Love, Julie Dickerson.

Steve was a great brother-in-law, husband, grandfather and friend.  But in the Baumann household he will be remembered  daily as we enjoy the Steve Dickerson Memorial Clock. 
     When my mother knew she was dying, she gave me her grandfather clock. I treasured it, but had no idea how to get it from Las Vegas to Michigan. Thus, it stayed in my parents Vegas home for another couple of decades.  When Jim and I cared for my father, we spent half the year at his Vegas house and half at our  Michigan home. I would see the clock and dream of having it.
     About a eight months before our dad passed away, Teri, Steve, Eric, Heather, Sandy and Tom took on the task of emptying  and selling the Vegas house. I became depressed, knowing  the clock would inevitably be sold or donated to a thrift store. I told them all that I really wanted the clock, but had no idea how to get it here. 
     Steve was the only one who could figure out how to ship it with all of its delicate parts. He spent hours carefully dissembling the weights and pendulum and bubble wrapping the entire clock. He drove it back to CA to his work where he packed it some more and then Fed Ex'ed it to Boyne City, Michigan.
       It got here with no breakage, which was unbelievable! But would it still work? A clock repairman  re-assembled and adjusted the clock in our home. Over forty years after being built, the clock still keeps PERFECT time 
      In the months before he died, our father Rey would sit in our living room telling and  retelling the story of how he had given the clock to our mother. He studied the clock  each day, making sure it was wound. The clock brought Rey much happiness in his final months.
     That clock is one of the most touching gifts I have ever received. I am sad that Steve never got to see it in our Michigan home. I am grateful for Steve's loving care and determination to ship it here. 
       Steve was always generous with his time helping others. May he rest in peace.

So many good memories with you!  I think my favorites were our Super Bowl trips to Vegas!  The time you hit the straight flush playing Let it Ride and then put the thong on at the condo and the time I stayed up waiting for you to come into Vegas after work and me not remembering playing 3 card poker the next day.  You were so pissed at me.  You were always there, so damn loyal and so much fun!  I still can’t believe your gone and still in shock.  Deepest condolences to your great family.  Love you buddy!  Please say hi to my dad for me.  It’s just not fair.  😪

My Dearest Sister:

Thank you.  Thank you for marrying such an incredible man who was so generous with his time, money, love and care. 

 I met Steve when you brought him into our family in 1976. Little did I know the gift he would be to all of our lives.  I couldn’t have predicted the brother he would become to me.  You and Steve helped me weather some incredibly difficult times in my life.  You both had an open door policy that meant so much to me and my children.  His family also welcomed me at various holidays, etc. Never met a better bunch that were fun to boot.  

Steve was a beloved “brother from another mother” to my husband.   He was a cherished uncle to my children. He was always available and ready to welcome them. He served an important role when I was a single mom.  I am so grateful.    

His at times relentless teasing only served to make me feel special.  His lack of self conscious humor (think New Year’s Baby or upside down, hands free beer chugging) lit up every gathering.   What a force!

He will be sorely missed and always remembered.   Rest well dear brother.  Until we meet again.

It’s very sad to see that Steve has passed away. I met him and the Nelson family through Rey Nelson Ptg. 
I would like to attend the memorial but will not be able to attend the Riverside National Cemetery or the celebration of life to follow.

You were the light of my life.  You loved me unconditionally and we shared many years together.  It does not seem real that I have to say “until later” at this time.  I reflect on our many wonderful memories.  For  46 years we led a life of laughter, adventure, love and   togetherness (heck, we even worked together),  and now sadness that I must do alone without you.   I’m not sure how I will navigate without you by my side.  You were a wonderful husband, father, Grandfather, Uncle, brother, and friend to all.   Your hugs will remain in everyone’s memory, and I will really miss them.  We will meet again, my love, but until then I will try to make you proud, by using your example and be the best human being I can be.  I love you, Steve - always have - always will.

I'm sorry to hear about Steve's death. I'm praying for you and your family as you mourn his passing. I hope you're comforted by your faith during this difficult time, knowing you'll see him again.
So many fun memories from Bartonville parties at your house. I can close my eyes and see Steve dressed up as baby new year!

Dear Dickerson Family,

My deepest condolences to the Dickerson family.  What a wonderful man.  I only had the opportunity to meet him through Facebook in which I agreed with him when he extolled the virtuous attributes and his love for his daughter.  Having worked with her (Michelle) for many years, I concurred with him.  (His wonderful attributes must be hereditary).  I hope the family can find comfort in the promise of seeing him again.  May he live always in your hearts until you meet again.

I really wish I could express just how much I thought of Steve.  When I went to work for him at Rey Nelson Printing, I felt like a joined a new family.  For months it was just Steve and I in the back warehouse, later I got moved to the front with the rest of the office workers.  It was when I worked in the warehouse that I got to know Steve, and how compassionate he was about his family, his friends, and his work.  What a great example of a human being.  I got the added bonus of having his wife as one of my dearest friends, and his kids as my dear friends as well.  My heart aches that such a wonderful man is gone, but I know heaven gained a treasure.  Rest in Peace Stevie Boy, you will be missed, but never forgotten.

Steve was a very special person who always let you know that he cared about you. When we were in our teens I was at a real low point in my life. I had personal issues in my home life that I let dominate my actions. Consequently I was in and out of school, had many interactions with the police, and was in a definite downward spiral. While many others turned away from me as trouble, Steve would not abandon me or let me give up on myself. His continued friendship helped to steer me back on the right path, and I eventually turned my life back around. He was the kind of friend that I could go 30 years without seeing, and when I did it was as if we had just hung out together the previous day. You were a true treasure in this life Stevie boy. Thanks for letting me share the ride.

Steve and I were one month apart in age but I always called him Uncle Steve ,he always had a smile on his face a twinkle in his eye and was the typical mischievous annoying boy, when i had a slumber party Steve was the only boy there loving every minute of it his humor keeping me up all night. Many many memories spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa Dickersons house having toast in the oven and fudge on the table playing hide n seek i can still hear his raspy voice I SEE YOU! What a nice Guy he turned out to be so many fond memories Prayers to Teri and Matt, Brooke and the Granchildren Steve will Forever be Watching over You! Uncle Steve was one of my favorite people in the world. We were so blessed to have such a wonderful, loving person in our lives. I’ll always miss being able to just wrap my arms around him. Being able to bring my Air Force friends down for Thanksgiving a few years ago to spend with all of you is one of my favorite memories now. Love you all and so grateful for the amazing time I had with him

Teri, Matt, and Michelle and families,
After moving to Northern California in 1998, I got to spend many weekends, holidays, and family gatherings with the Dickersons in both Northern and Southern California. I am grateful for their warm welcomes, hospitality, generosity, and immediate family inclusion each visit. 
One of my fond memories I enjoyed was the annual trip to Napa Valley with Steve, Teri and Matt. We toured the wineries and bought cases of wine for Thanksgiving dinner. After our stop in Napa, we headed to San Francisco to purchase seafood as the annual tradition was seafood and a shrimp boil on Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  The following days were always filled with great food, celebration of family, and wonderful memories I will always cherish. 
My condolences to Teri, Matt and Michelle. My prayers to you all during this difficult and sorrowful time. Please remember the good times and smile - I know Steve is smiling now. Thank you. Love you all, Julie Dickerson

Teri and Family,
My heart goes out to the Dickerson and Nelson Families. Steve was one of a kind and once you became friends with him, you were a friend for life. I started working with Steve at CAT, when our departments combined. Computer Center with the Dealer dummies(that is what us in CC called them). It took me a good month to get used to Steve and his crazy ways, but once I got to know him, he was a downright terrific guy! Then I got the big New Years Eve invite to Steve and Teri's and just when I thought I had seen everything, out comes Steve in a diaper as the NYE baby! Out with the old and in with the new!! lol Then came the big move to Cally! They loaded up the truck and never looked back! Went out several times to visit and always had a great time(well, except for the time Teri came close to stabbing Steve and the way he acted, a person would have thought she did, ha ha). Some of my trips out there, we went to Catalina, a few concerts, I think in Long Beach! After Karen and I divorced, I took Katie to visit a few times. The last trip with Katie, I rented a convertible Mustang(cause Katie loved Mustangs) and we arrived at Rey Nelson Printing to meet up with Steve and Teri to go have Mexican. Well, while waiting I decided to put my truck/house keys in the suitcase and lock them in the trunk. Welllllllllllllllllll, when it was time to leave RNP, I went to get the Mustang keys out of my pocket and OOPS, I pulled out my home/truck keys! The keys to the Mustang was safely locked away in the trunk of the Mustang! Oooooooooh the choice words ol ScumDog Steve used!! ha ha! Needless to say, Teri and Katie left to go eat Mexican, while Steve and I waited for a locksmith! And as soon as the keys to the Mustang was in hand, poor starving Steve and I were on our way to meet all the others for Mexican!! And trust me, I heard about the Mustang incident for years after the fact!  Steve was one of a kind and I wouldn't had it any other way!        Jerry O. Wilcoxson
