Stephen Lee Tims

Steve Tims, 73, unexpectedly passed away August 30, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents Orbrey Neil and Patsy Ruth Tims. Steve is survived by his four children Greg (Christina) Tims, Conni Tims (Mario) Zuniga, Mike (Heather) Tims, and Kevin (Marlene) Tims, his beloved eleven grandchildren, brother Craig Tims, sister Tricia Sellers-Jensen, and nieces and nephews.

Steve grew up in South Gate, California, and attended school there graduating from South Gate High School in 1968, where he played football, ran track, and pole vaulted. He also attended Los Angeles Harbor Junior College and California State University, Dominguez Hills.

Steve spent many years involved in youth sports coaching his sons in Riverside Pop Warner football and various baseball teams. He also helped coach his daughter’s travel softball team. He continued his love of football coaching his grandsons.

Steve was involved his entire adult life with drag racing his Volkswagen powered bugs, ghia, and even a fiat. He made his living working as a VW mechanic, building racing motors and heads and shipping them all over the world.

He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

A memorial service is planned for September 22, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Acheson & Graham Mortuary with reception to follow (location TBA).
