Terry Robert Curley went home to the Lord on June 29, 2021. He was born in Lancaster, Ca in 1946 and spent the first eighteen years of his life in the Mojave desert at Edwards AFB and North Edwards, graduating from Boron High School in 1964. In 1965-1969 he served in the USAF as a communications specialist stationed in Japan and Taiwan. Upon discharge he continued his education getting his AA degree Antelope Valley College in Lancaster; He earned his BS degree in Business Administration from Cal State University, Northridge. He also earned a BA degree in History and Secondary Teaching Credential. During the years of education,- he also worked at US Borax Co, Boron Calif, Montclair Junior High School as social studies and P.E teacher, MSAS in Inglewood in export operations, and Wits Airfreight, managing international operations. 1984-94 worked for Rockwell International as Traffic and Customs manager. 1994-2004 worked at Boeing Company as senior Logistics Analyst, Long Beach, Ca and in 2004 transitioned to Boeing at Huntington Beach as Trade Control Specialist until he retired in 2011. Upon retirement he worked as a consultant for Raytheon as an Export/Import Specialist for three years in Fullerton, Ca and lastly for VIASAT, Carlsbad, Ca in Export Compliance. until his death.
He is preceded in death by his father Harry Curley and mother Helen also his sister Doreen Jones and husband Bill Jones. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Jeannie) Curley. They grew up together at Edwards AFB and reacquainted in 2004 and were married in 2007, currently retired and living in Murrieta, Ca.. He is also survived by his son Ryan William Curley of Hemet and Jackie, his grandchildren, Tanier Lee and Drew Curley and great grandchildren Stella and Sofia of Washington. His son Robert Christopher Curley of Riverside and Rob and Ryans mother Carolyn Grisham of Rosamond, Ca.. He is also survived by his brother Harry Curley Jr. and wife Nona,of Lancaster, Ca his brother William (Bill) Curley and wife Linda of Louisville, Kentucky, and sister Karen McElhany of Henderson, Nevada.He leaves behind his cousins, numerous nieces and nephews from the Jones and the Curleys., and McElhanys
Terry also leaves behind his step family. Larry Howerton (Marilyn) of Main, Nell Alloway of Tennessee, Michele Webb(Steve) of Texas. Kevin Regan(Echo(Sean),Skye, India of Lake Arrowhead, Kim Goucher(Chris)Piper and Eleora of Mojave, Keri Regan(Stephen) of San Diego, Nick Griffith of San Louis Obispo, Amber Wagher, Malachi Wagher(Yuro) Marlii and Mahliki of Lancaster.
Terry was a sports enthusiast. From his youth he participated in sports from Little League, high school sports, weight lifting, running, golf, and hand ball. He enjoyed most all sports, but particularly loved college sports especially UCLA. He was a Yankee baseball fan, supported the Chicago Bears football, and loved watching golf.
Terry was literally a man of many” hats”( and shoes). Going fishing brought him lots of pleasure, but not always a lot of fish. At restaurants, except for special occasions, he liked a seat at the bar (said you got the best service and opportunity to meet new people). He enjoyed his wine and music, reminisced about the past, and enjoyed traveling. He also loved movie trivia and could quote lines from some of his favorites and even mimic the voices.
Most of all Terry was a people person. He was likeable,friendly, generous, and extremely loyal.. He leaves behind many lifelong friends from his school years, friends from his years in the Air Force, and so many friends from his working years in the aerospace industry , and many new friends since his retirement here in Murrieta. He loved his family, cherished his friendships, proud to be an American, and proud of his work accomplisments, and ethics, and loved the Lord .
Celebration of Life Service will be held Wed. September 8, 2021 at Westside Christian Fellowship 9306 Leona Ave Leona Valley, Ca 93551 . 1 pm
Formal military burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Ca Riverside 92508. Yet to be announced
