May 25, 2026
Theresa Marie Rogers, 74, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Riverside, California, leaving behind a world that was unmistakably brighter for having had her in it. Born in Kalispell, Montana, Theresa made her way to Southern California at a young age, and it was here that she truly bloomed, building a life so full of warmth and color that everyone who entered it felt it instantly.
Theresa was sunshine in human form: a vibrant, beautifully unique soul who found pure joy in creation and connection. Her hands were always busy making something beautiful, and as a talented artist, she shared her gifts freely and generously at local craft and art fairs, where her warm smile and welcoming spirit made her a beloved fixture.
But her greatest art was the way she loved people. Theresa had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel seen, accepted, and cherished; not just family, but anyone who wandered into her orbit. She became "second mom" to so many of her children's friends over the years, because her heart was always, always open.
Thanksgiving was her holiday, and she wore that crown with absolute joy. Year after year, she gathered 20 to 30 family members under one roof, filling every corner with laughter, food, and the particular magic that only she could create. For Theresa, a crowded home wasn't chaos; it was heaven.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Chuck. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charlie Rogers; her loving daughters, Melissa Schmidt and Shelly O'Brien; her cherished grandchildren, Riley Schmidt, Carson Schmidt, Michael O'Brien, and Liam O'Brien; her adored great-grandchildren, Carter Schmidt and Chloe Schmidt; and her dear brothers, Bert Jovin, Dave Jovin, and Pat Jovin.
Theresa's legacy is not measured in things. It is measured in the people who loved her, the homes she made feel warmer just by walking through them, and the countless lives quietly transformed by her generosity and grace. She was the kind of person the whole room gravitated toward, and the whole room will forever feel her absence, but her light lives on — in her family, in her friends, and in everyone lucky enough to have known her warmth.
