I will truly miss my Uncle Vernon's visits and our time spent shopping for souvenirs for his friends every time he came to visit.  Such a good person with a great smile, such wonderful memories of him visiting me with my Dad.  My kids loved when he came to visit too.  We'll miss him. We always wished each other a Happy Birthday, mine is on May 6th and he never forgot. Love to my family, you are all in our prayers.

One dance a night was usually all I could get with Vernon, what with all the other competition, but it was always such a joyful dance. If Vernon could have given his zydeco "family" so much, I can only imagine the sweetness he brought to his family. Sending peaceful thoughts and prayers to all of you.We will surely miss him on the dance floor.

Vernon, you will be missed for your kind and loving ways. Always a good sport who enjoyed life, zydeco dancing, playing cards, and having a great time. Our road trip to San Francisco was the best "Jody" with all that "Instruction" and a "Great Day." LOL

Uncle Vernon - was my father's brother, he was my uncle. My memories of him will always be about the great times we had as kids with our family all around us! God Bless my uncle and thank you for allowing me to hold on to the good memories.

I'm saddened to hear of Vernon's passing. Over the years I so enjoyed dancing with him at the various festivals and dancehalls in Southern California. He was always kind, ready to share his big smile, the twinkle in his eye and to pass a good time on and off the dance floor with everyone. We all have our special memories of Vernon to treasure. I'm sure his buddies Aubry, Iry and Murphy are glad to share his company again. My sympathy to his family---may the good Lord hold you close and comfort you.

Sorry to hear about Vernon. He was always a pleasure to be with, always of good cheer, always a gentleman, and fun to share a snack with after Zydeco dancing. No doubt he's doing a two-step somewhere up in the Clouds.

Vernon was always a bright light on the dance floor. As we traveled around the dance floor with our partners we would often find ourselves side by side. If the music was perfect, which it mostly was, we would look at each other and stamp our foot towards each other on just the right beat and bust out with a laugh or a big smile. The women we were dancing with never seemed to mind that we were playing this wonderful little game with each other. It was an unspoken sign of respect we had for one another. Vernon taught me the "Old man Shuffle" that would allow us to dance from morning till night. Peace to you my brother. Peter

Always a smile on his face and stories to tell; most often about Lake Charles. One of the best friends and dance partners ever. He's dancing in heaven now.
