Victor C. Martinez

Victor C. Martinez 91 entered into the gates of heaven on Thursday, April 5, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Natividad, brothers, Samuel, Lawrence, Gabriel, Joe, sisters Jenny and Torivia. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Rufina, children Victoria, Rebecca, (Arnold), Richard, (Mary), Victor Jr., (Lynnae) 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. After marring the love of his life on January 27, 1952, he moved to Compton with his brother Gabriel to start his new career working at Ceco and Rocon Steel as a rod buster. He then became Superintendent of Belmer Steel. He worked in the Union, Local 416 for 32 years and was a Korean War Veteran. He also attended Compton College to learn the welding trade. After he retired he continued to work from his home welding shop making wrought iron gates, fences and doors until his hands no longer allowed him to. He loved working on his yard, planting tomatoes and had the best avocado tree. Victor’s celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at St Anthony’s Church, 3074 Madison St. Riverside, CA. 92504, a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by his burial at 12:45 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside, CA 92518. A reception in Honor of Victor will be held at Zacatecas Restaurant 3767 Iowa Ave Riverside, CA 92307 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Acheson & Graham Mortuary in Riverside are handling the services.
