April 13th, 1926 – August 3rd, 2024
U.S World War ll, Korea, and Vietnam Wars Veteran
Wallace Loyal Beach Sr. (Wally) passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 3rd, 2024, in the early morning hours. He was 98 years old. Wally was born in Berlin, New Hampshire to Paul A. Beach and Viola C. (Cavagnaro) Beach. At the age of seventeen, Wally joined the U.S Navy to serve on a destroyer escort in World War ll. In 1946, he met the love of his life, Anita Ruphine Goguen, and they married in 1948. Shortly after, he joined the newly formed United States Air Force. Through the years, they made their home in many locations where his military assignments took them. Along the way, they had five sons and one daughter. After serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars, Wally retired in 1969 as a Master Sergeant after twenty-one years in the United States Air Force.
Wally continued his dedicated service to the United States as a civil service welding instructor for the Navy Department at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine. He was very mechanically-minded and a product of the ‘old school’ of doing a job well. Everywhere he lived, he not only repaired and remodeled his family’s home, but found himself helping others with their home repairs. He retired from civil service in 1986.
Wally was a man of faith, coming to and surrendering his life to the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 46. He became a great encourager to all who knew him but more so to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The impact of his life will live on for generations to come. Wally and Anita continued to enjoy living and exploring other places in the United States. Making their home in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, California, Washington, and Kentucky. Wally returned to California to be cared for by his daughter Mary and her family after the passing of his wife of 68 years.
When he found time to relax, Wally loved to fish, travel, and play cards with his family and friends. He had a quick sense of humor with a sharp wit always keeping everyone around him on their toes. Always the gentleman and a man of excellence, he strived to live out the words found in the Book of Micah chapter 6 verse 8 – ‘He has told you, O Man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?’. In the weeks before his passing, with the strength he had left, he used FaceTime to encourage his family in their faith. Especially telling them to keep doing what is right and good and tell them how proud he was of them. Wally passionately loved the Lord and his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Viola Beach, his sister Jaqueline (Jackie) (Beach) Martel, his wife Anita, and his oldest son, Jeffrey Paul Beach.
Wally is survived by his brother Clayton (Gerry) Beach on Canandaigua, New York; daughter-in-law Deanna Beach of Deer Park, Washington; sons John Stanley (Rose) Beach of Kittery, Maine, Wallace Loyal Beach Jr. of Melbourne, Florida, Terrence James (Jane) Beach of Berwick, Maine, Gregory Thomas (Pamela) Beach of Palmer, Alaska; daughter Mary Elizabeth Rodriguez of Riverside, California; thirteen grandchildren: Elizabeth Steinmark, Johnathan Beach, Heather Palmer, Laurel Theriault, Terrence Beach Jr., Catherine Beach, Jacob Beach, Alyssa Hennessy, Rachel Westveer, Natalie Wise, Sarah Rodriguez, Savannah Rodriguez, Samuel Rodriguez and their families; twenty-one great-grandchildren, and his four great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Robin, Aurora, Mesha, and LaVonia of the inland Valley Hospice for their sensitive care of our father. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either Hospice Foundation of America or the American Patriot Service Corporation.
A private ceremony at a later date will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, Kentucky.
