Wilma Lucille Mercer

Wilma Mercer was born September 9, 1919 in Schuyler County in Illinois to Pearl and Gilbert Morgan. She was one of six children. Her first years were spent on a farm and later the family moved to Macomb, Illinois. Attending school there, she met Paul who she married in 1939.They moved to California in 1942 and raised three children in the San Fernando Valley. Wilma was a devoted wife and mother, warm hearted and generous with her time. She enjoyed playing golf, playing cards and board games, working on puzzles, cooking and baking for her family, and traveling with friends. Her home became the place that her many relatives stayed when they visited southern California. Wilma leaves behind her three children and their spouses, Carol (Dave), Paul (Patty), Virginia (Tim), four grandchildren, Tim, David, Erin, Ben, four great-grandchildren Allison, Caroline, Hudson, Denali, a sister and brother and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul and three brothers. Wilma Mercer, age 95, passed away on May 16, 2015 in Riverside. She touched many lives and will be truly missed by all those who were honored to know her. Her title of “grandma” reached far beyond her immediate family.
