Anita was born on October 23, 1930, in Capulin, Colorado, to loving parents. She graduated from Capulin High School and in 1946 married the love of her life, Amerante Felipe Sandoval, in their hometown. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and unconditional love.
A proud homemaker, Anita found great joy and purpose in caring for her family. She was known for her fiery spirit—full of hell, as she liked to say—her incredible sense of humor, and her magnetic charisma. You couldn’t spend time with her without laughing. Anita loved to tease, loved to dance, and was always the life of the party. Her home was a place of warmth, welcome, and endless love, especially for children—she adored them.
Anita was a devoted Catholic and active in her church community. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, shaping her kindness, compassion, and unwavering generosity. She always accepted others with open arms, no matter who they were or where they came from.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amerante Felipe Sandoval, her son, Daniel Glen Sandoval, her great-grandson, Skyler Edgar Pacheco, and many other cherished loved ones.
Anita is survived by her children: Nancy (Michael) Locke, Shirley (Dennis) Streeter, Ellen (Randy) Whitmer, Phillip Leonard Sandoval, Donna Sandoval Lucero, and Valarie Ann Martinez, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and even great-great-great-grandchildren—each one a testament to her legacy of love, strength, and family.
Anita believed deeply in living life to the fullest, forgiving freely, and always making room for more love. She encouraged her family to “keep growing the family and have all the babies.” She never let anyone leave her presence without feeling seen, loved, and taken care of. Her spirit was adventurous, fun-loving, and always up for a good time.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend—and she will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to know her.
