

Ben Russell Barber, born on July 11, 1933, in Syracuse, Utah, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 92. Residing in Eagle Mountain, Utah, Ben was known for his dedication to family, community, and faith.
Ben graduated from Davis High School in 1951 and later pursued an Associate Degree in Pilot Technology from Mountainview College, graduating in 1975. His commitment to education and personal growth was evident throughout his life.
A dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ben served as the first Bishop of the Grand Prairie Second Ward in the Dallas, Texas Stake. He was active in Boy Scouts of America and was passionate about being an amateur radio operator. His leadership and service left a lasting impact on his community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Violeta Del Carmen Verastegui, and his children: Russell W Barber, Joanne Merrill, Jim Barber, Celin Cardinale, Samir Cardinale, Luiz Figueroa, and Venus Bell. Ben was also cherished by his siblings, Cleone Cook and Norman Barber, as well as 28 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl K Barber and Ruby Bateman, his brothers, Kent Barber and Phil Barber, his first wife, Patricia A Stiles, and his second wife, Barbara Cole.
A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service on February 7, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm at Cedar Valley 1st Ward, located at 1934 East Cedar Trails Way, Eagle Mountain, Utah. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the same location. Interment will take place on February 17, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Utah Veterans Cemetery, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
Floral arrangements or plants (preferred) may be delivered to Wasatch Lawn Mortuary at 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah 84106, prior to 5 pm on Friday, February 6th.
