Bill was born on October 12, 1934, in Los Angeles, California, to William Frederick Marsh and Jessie Lillian Fraser Marsh. He was extremely proud of his Scottish heritage and especially honored to carry on the Fraser name through his mother’s family line.
He graduated from Boulder City High School in Nevada and earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno.
On November 25, 1955, Bill married Myrna Ann Stewart in her hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 18, 1968. Together they built a home in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they raised their two daughters and became a part of their neighborhood and community.
A skilled and dedicated engineer, Bill worked for Sperry Univac, Mountain Fuel Supply Company, and various other firms before retiring from Merit Medical Systems, where he served as the Facilities Engineer. He was a lifelong member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and had an endless curiosity for how things worked—especially when it came to mechanical devices, electronics, and sprinkler systems. His garage was his sanctuary, proudly displaying a sign that read, “What Happens in My Garage Stays in my Garage.”
Bill served a short time in the U.S. Army, a reflection of how much he loved American History. He was a converted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faithfully serving in many callings, including as a counselor in the bishopric. His faith, service, and strength were hallmarks of his character.
Bill’s love for the outdoors was infectious. He was an avid member of the Wasatch Mountain Club and spent countless weekends boating on Utah’s lakes—especially Lake Powell. He took joy in teaching generations of neighborhood kids how to water ski and downhill ski. He loved horses, fly fishing, golf, and was even a certified scuba diver at one time. He treasured Myrna's family ranch in southeast Idaho, where many of his happiest days were spent. He loved watching and following college and professional football, dogs (especially his beloved Hercules and Coco), and listening to Lana play piano.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Ann Stewart Marsh, and his daughter, Lisa Ann Marsh Sawyer. He is survived by his daughter, Lana Marsh; his grandchildren Chad Christiansen, Sean Christiansen, Alexa Winn, and Weston Wilkinson; and five great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the hospice team at Ability Hospice, especially Jodi.
Interment will take place at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, June 13, 2025.
