Diane was born on March 9, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ralph and Inez Franson. She was raised in the beautiful community of Oakley, Utah, with her siblings, Sheldon, Arlene, and Michael. She graduated from South Summit High School in 1961 and went on to complete the Clerk-Typist program at LDS Business College in 1963.
On March 27, 1964, she married the love of her life, Larenzo Park. Together, they built a home in the Salt Lake Valley and raised four sons: Terrence “Terry,” Gerald “Jerry,” Gary, and Dary.
Diane devoted her life to her family. She took great pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love was steady, and her patience enduring. She led by example and with a sense of humor. The lessons she taught will be passed down, including the Christmas Creams recipe.
Throughout her life, Diane worked in a variety of roles. She served as a library aide at Westland Elementary School, worked in residential real estate with Century 21, and in the family business, Oquirrh Construction. She was also a Cub Scout leader, a Primary teacher, and a homemaker. She valued education, hard work, and a good Hallmark movie.
Diane loved the outdoors. The mountains and small-town community of Oakley remained close to her heart throughout her life. She treasured every opportunity to return to the “old Homestead” for family reunions and homemade root beer. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family, going to lunch with friends, and traveling around in the motor home. Above all, Diane cherished her family. She believed in faith, kindness, and maintaining peaceful relationships.
Diane is survived by her beloved husband, Larenzo Park; her sons, Terry Park (Heidi Robertson), Gary Park, and Dary Park (Jodi Sexton); six grandchildren, Marista, Terence, Marimargret, Kaleb, Shelby, and Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Kristalee, Brettsen, Charles, and Elisha; her sister, Arlene Butler (Stanley Butler); her brother, Michael Franson (Tamra Baggaley); her favorite “out”-law, Aimee Park, and her furry, four-legged co-conspirator, Smudge.
Diane was preceded in death by her son, Jerry, who passed away on May 4, 2021; her brother, Sheldon Franson, and his wife, Barbara; and her parents, Ralph and Inez Franson.
Diane leaves behind family and friends who will miss her dearly and her 65-year-old pots and pans that served her so well. Services will be held Tuesday, October 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2850 W 3835 S, West Valley City. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:45 am, with funeral services beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park, 4415 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah.
