

Douglas Gilbert Brown, age 79, passed away in his home November 26, 2016. He was born May 7, 1937 in Los Angeles, California to Gilbert Avon Brown and Selma O Briggs. He married the love of his life, Bette Rae Adamson, January 29, 1965.
Doug graduated from Jordan High school and attended the University of Utah. He served in the Air National Guard for eight years. He served an LDS Mission to the British Mission. He met Bette while both were singing in the Sacra Dulce Choir. He worked as a ticket agent and supervisor for American Airlines, retiring after 32 years. He later enjoyed driving the field trip school bus for Jordan and Canyons School Districts. Doug had many hobbies during his life. He loved spending time with his family and extended family, reading, singing, listening to music, painting and many various types of art work, playing chess, playing the piano and organ, and creating airplane models he carved out of balsa wood. He enjoyed going on family vacations, air shows and traveling as much as possible. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, racquetball, swimming, waterskiing, and basketball.
Doug was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings in the ward and stake, but the calling he loved most was that of teacher.
Doug was a friend to all, he liked to talk to anyone and everyone. There was never an awkward silence when he was around. He was witty and a pleasure to talk with.
Doug is survived by his wife, Bette, of Sandy, son, Brian (Sharri) Brown of Provo, daughter, Christi Dees of Murray, nine grandchildren, one great grandson (with two on the way), nieces, nephews and many lifetime friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Sandy Utah Central Stake Center, 1050 East Galena Drive, Sandy, Utah on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 12:30 pm. Friends may visit with family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2016 and from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Stake Center.
