Howard Kent Williams (78), born August 5,1941 in Ogden, Utah to Norma Hansen and Elwood Williams, passed away April 3, 2020 at his Bluffdale home, in the arms of his loving wife, after a seven year battle with kidney failure.
Howard attended school in Ogden and Salt Lake City before his family moved to Sandy. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1959. After attending the University of Utah for a short time he was called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Norway. The language was difficult to learn, but he mastered it and continued to speak it until he passed.
He married Brit Olstad in 1964, later divorced. They were blessed with five children, “the joys of his life,” Elizabeth, Doug, Katherine, Andrew, and Spencer.
Howard married Mary Campbell, his high school sweetheart, on January 6, 1984 and they were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple on March 25, 1989. Howard served as a temple worker for nineteen years at the Jordan River Temple and the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. He and Mary served as church volunteers for six years at the Utah State Prison. He loved to share the gospel and study the scriptures daily.
Howard was very patriotic and he loved his country, and the outdoors. He enjoyed old cars, car shows, tractors, parades, and shooting his guns. He loved looking for old mines and artifacts; especially if they had anything to do with the Uintah Basin. He loved time spent at the family ranch in Tabiona, and a good cheeseburger at Charly’s. Dad loved his family and Father in Heaven above all else.
Howard was proceeded in death by his parents, his daughter, Elizabeth, and his son, Andrew. He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Mary Campbell Williams, his children, Douglas (Karie) Williams, Katherine (Shane) Wilson, Spencer (Sherri) Williams, step-daughters, Christine (Stanford) Engh, LeAnn (Trent) Higgins and Sheri Harrington, twelve grandchildren, six and a half great grand children, and his brother, J. Scott (Terri) Williams.
Private graveside services will be held for immediate family only.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
