Jacky was born in Highland Park, Illinois to Robert Peter Bleimehl and Lois Marie Sturtevant. She was also raised by her stepfather Howard Dale Lutz and grandparents whom she adored.
Jacky spent her life in devotion to her family and faith. She met her sweetheart, Wendell Glen Martin at a roller skating rink when she was 16 years old and they married two years later. They remained devoted to each other for over 64 years and welcomed 7 children into their family.
When Jacky was young, her life was spared by her dog Mr. Chips. It started a lifelong love and caring for all animals.
Jacky’s life revolved around her family. She loved her little ones and wanted to offer them a good home and healthy life. She later found joy volunteering to help other young mothers do the same through her community and religious service. She was proud of each one of her children and there were plenty of tight hugs to remind you how much you were loved. If you were a friend, you were also considered family. Jacky was an example of what it meant to be loyal and to always do the right thing. She created and kept many family traditions that made you feel like being a Martin was the greatest thing on earth. She made every birthday and holiday special and taught her family to do the same.
Jacky and Wendell were introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints through their brother Lloyd, and were baptized and later sealed in the Manti temple. Jacky was faithful her entire life. She served in many capacities, primary being her favorite. She started family history as soon as she was baptized and was successful at turning her children’s hearts to their fathers. She was very proud of her family heritage. She never doubted her faith nor denied what she knew was true. She was an example of the believers in the way she treated others and how she raised her family.
Her life was a testament of the importance and value and under appreciation of motherhood. She gave much more than she ever received. She was preceded in death by her husband Wendell Glen Martin Sr., daughter Sally Van Ry, grandson Kenny Martin, and granddaughter Lexie Martin. She is survived by her son Wendell Martin Jr., former daughter in law Jackie Martin, son Rusty (Virginia Perkins) Martin, son Dan (Jo) Martin, daughter Amy (Bryan) Bone, son Jeff (Tara) Martin, daughter Jill (Brian) Duncan, 26 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, sister Janet (Raymond) Neumann, and brother Jim Lutz.
Thank you to all those who made Jacky a part of your life. Her love and friendship cannot be contained in just 85 years. Her legacy will live on through her family forever.
