Jeffrey Randal Mead entered this world on December 4, 1952, in Ogden, Utah. He was born into a loving family to Maurice Willard Mead and Charlann Rice Mead. He passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in his home with his loving wife Jan, daughter, and two of his granddaughters by his side. Our loving Heavenly Father and many other loved ones excitedly welcomed his joyful arrival. Jeff grew up in South Ogden, Utah, the oldest of four siblings, Greg, Gary, Lance, and Leisa.
Jeff graduated from Bonneville High School in 1971. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the military as the #1 draft pick. His father, Maurice, was worried he would be sent to the front lines in the Army so instead of waiting to find out which branch he would be assigned, Jeff enrolled in the United States Navy. Jeff served in active duty for two years as electrician mate third class, stationed in San Diego, California. While serving in the Navy he spent time in California, Hawaii, Mexico, and Japan. When Jeff was en route to the Vietnam War, the Paris Peace Accords were signed, and the ships were directed to turn around. He continued to serve in the Navy reserves for the next several years and was honorably discharged on September 6, 1977.
Jeff and Jan grew up just a few miles from each other and attended grade school together. They started dating their senior year of high school in 1970 and she stuck by his side throughout his time serving in the Navy. Jeff married the love of his life, Janet Belnap, on May 24, 1974, and sealed their love in the Salt Lake City Temple. Jeff and Jan welcomed their first child shortly after in 1975. They brought 7 kids into their world from 1975 to 1984.
Jeff, Jan, and their family moved to Hollister, California in July of 1977 to manage Sha-Ron Arabian Farms for his father-in-law. They enjoyed ranch life, breeding horses and raising a growing family. Several years later Jeff began working for Milgard Windows as an outside sales rep. He quickly became one of the top sales reps for the company, winning multiple President’s Club sales awards and the Lifetime Sales Achievement Award. He worked for Milgard Windows for 29 years. His favorite part of being recognized as a top salesman were the company trips to Hawaii. He cherished those trips with Jan.
Jeff had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jeff thought of his service in the Navy as similar to that of serving a mission. He was away from home; exploring foreign lands and knew he needed a sure foundation in the gospel. He credits this time to gaining the strong testimony he carried with him throughout his life. He served diligently in any calling asked of him. From nursery, primary teacher, elders quorum president, high priest group leader, stake high councilor, councilor in several bishoprics to name a few. Jeff served as Bishop in the Hollister 2nd Ward from 1989-1994. Later after moving back to Utah, Jeff served as bishop for the second time for the Riverton 9th ward from 2003-2008. He valued his priesthood and took that responsibility seriously. He made sure he was always worthy to exercise his priesthood to bless those around him. He touched many lives through his years of service, none more than his family.
In his free time, which was limited, he enjoyed going to the beach, hiking, and bowling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He supported each one in all they did; dance recitals, sporting events, plays, graduations, baptisms, and missions. He made sure each one felt like they were the favorite.
Jeff was the perfect example of love and devotion, to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, to his faith, his fellow man, his family and especially Jan. He was extremely compassionate, kind, and loyal. He showed unconditional love to everyone in his life. He cherished his family and was grateful for the plan of salvation and eternal families. His example will continue to bless his posterity for generations. He was a pillar of faith and would want to be remembered for his testimony of Jesus Christ and love of God.
Jeff is survived by his extraordinary wife Janet, his children, Tanya (Rob) Kerr, Jaret (Sierra) Mead, Brandt (Tricia) Mead, Ryan (Nicole) Mead, Geran (Anna) Mead, Scott (Jennifer) Mead, and Devin (Cassidy) Mead. He is survived by his grandkids Taylor Kerr, Jeffrey Kerr, Dawn (Ty) Koller, Brooklyn Mead, Eva Mead, Zachary Mead, Marcus Mead, Lincoln Mead, Cheyenne Mead, Donovan Mead, Quintin Mead, Oaklynn Mead, Chloe (Preston) Heward, Halle Mead, Jackson Mead, Olivia Mead, Hailey Mead, Hayden Mead, Hannah Mead, Joshua Mead, Brickton Mead, Skyler Mead, Blake Mead, and Jurnee Mead. He is also survived by his two step-grandkids Rogan Keating and Rhett Keating. Jeff is survived by his 3 great grandkids, Robert Koller, Kehlani Kalua-Dayley, and Luka Mead.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Charlann Mead, his older twin siblings Kerry Maurice and Deborah Ann Mead, sister-in-law Lorraine Chambers Mead, and grandson Lucas Mead.
