We older sisters were given the charge of caring for our youngest sisters, Teri & Kris; we loved pretending that they were our real babies and later, toddlers (which was much more interesting than playing with our dolls). Our boyfriends even generously allowed us to take them with us on dates to the county fair or other family type events; (maybe our mother thought they could be our chaperones). All too soon, we older sisters went to college leaving the two youngest sisters behind, only seeing them again when we returned on school vacations. I remember finally having enough time to sew Teri & Kris some Barbie doll clothes for their Christmas gifts soon after returning from Africa. Kris even wore the 2nd wedding dress I ever created. After her own marriage and jobs in Utah, we managed to see each other for reunions in Minnesota and one memorable trip with Kris and Michelle to Singer Island in Florida (a Marriott vacation for which Kris most likely made the reservations). My music teacher husband marveled at the perfect pitch Kris demonstrated as she joyously sang during a few car trips, confidently soloing on a repertoire of beloved songs from "The Sound of Music" and other musical creations. I was privileged to visit Kris, Terry and Michelle and their other family members in Utah, including the time when her dog absconded with my undies (which we eventually rescued from their backyard). Kris made good use of her cell phone to stay connected with us and especially with our mother. Kris was so very blessed to share her life with Terry and the Soderman family. To me, she is the epitome of love, courage and integrity. I know that she remains a part of us.
