Linda Lee Larsen Bruening, 84, of Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026. Born on November 7, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the second of five children born to Joseph and Frances Larsen.
Linda grew up in Salt Lake City, where she formed many of the friendships that would last a lifetime. She and her future husband, Milt Bruening, had known each other since childhood and lived in the same ward. They began dating at age 15 and were married in 1960 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage, which began over 65 years ago, was a foundation of love and partnership.
A dedicated mother, Linda raised their three children, often managing the home while Milt worked and studied. In 1975 the family moved to Maryville, Missouri, where they spent 19 happy years. There Linda supported her children in their education and extracurricular activities, attending countless band trips and football games. She returned to school as an adult and earned her degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1989. She found great joy and belonging as a member of the close-knit Maryville Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In 1994, Linda and Milt returned to Springville, Utah, to be closer to their growing family. She continued her lifelong pattern of service, serving as Relief Society President in both the Maryville Branch and the Springville Ward. From November 2009 to May 2011, she and Milt served a mission together in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Linda also devoted 28 years to temple service, finding deep fulfillment in that sacred work.
Those who knew Linda remember her warmth, loyalty, and quiet strength. She was known for her good nature and cheerful spirit. Linda was a true friend for life. She maintained close connections with cousins and extended family, remembering details and offering support when it was needed. Many experienced her kindness through thoughtful notes and timely acts of generosity that often went unnoticed at the time.
