

Linda S. Gines (84) passed away May 22, 2026. in Taylorsville, Utah surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on September 18, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Filmore Smith and Della May Zacherson.
Linda grew up in Granger, Utah and graduated from Granger High School. She married Ivan (Ike) Orr in 1962 and together they had four boys. She later divorced, remarried, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Linda lived in Las Vegas until she retired. After retirement Linda moved back to Utah and lived with her sister Maureen and her niece Carie Garbon in Clinton, Utah.
Linda was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was very social and made friends everywhere she went. She loved to laugh, joke-around and act goofy. That is how she earned her self-proclaimed nickname “Grandma Goonie”. All her grandchildren called her Goonie. It was a nickname that stuck with her until the end. Even the CNA’s and hospice nurses in her care facility started calling her Grandma Goonie.
Linda is survived by 3 of her four boys. Jeff (Brenda) Orr, Kevin Orr, and Ron Orr. Her youngest son Brad passed away in 2021. Linda is also survived by her sisters Maureen Walker and Margie Sheppard. Linda had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and they were her pride and joy. Grandma Goonie loved all of you kids, and she will always be watching over you.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest son Brad.
The family would like to thank Legacy Village Memory Care in Taylorsville, Utah and Renew Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion for our mother throughout the final stages of her life. You guys are awesome!!!!
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
