At the young age of 16, Marshall joined the United States Navy, proudly serving aboard the USS Banner for four years. During his time in the Navy, he earned his GED and considered his service one of his proudest accomplishments.
After his honorable discharge, Marshall moved to Utah to reunite with his family. It was there that he met Jeannette Annaliese Schorr. The two married in 1961 and built a beautiful life together, raising five children.
Marshall was passionate about the automotive industry and spent most of his career working in it. He was known for his hard work, depth of knowledge, and dedication.
Family time was everything to Marshall. One of his greatest joys was loading up the boat and heading to Lake Powell with Jeannette and their children. These vacations were filled with adventure, laughter, and cherished memories that the family will hold close, forever.
Sunday breakfasts with his children and grandchildren were a treasured tradition. Marshall’s wit, humor, and storytelling lit up every room. Even in his final days, he retained his sharp memory and infectious sense of humor—qualities that made him truly one of a kind.
Marshall is survived by Jeannette Lear; his children Douglas Lear (Shellie), Jeffery Lear (Yolanda), Misty English (Harley), and Jason Lear (Shauna); his siblings Shirley Mangelson, Audrey Paulsen, Betty Wright, Stanley Lear, and Mary Lou Mecham; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brandy Lear; his parents, Royal Marshall and Getty Pearl; and siblings Lionel Lear, Royal Jr., Ramona Weinkauf, and Barbara Bryner.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Jeff, Yolanda, Tayler, and Preslee for their dedicated and loving care over the past eight years. You are our guardian angels, and we are eternally grateful. We would also like to extend appreciation to Jeannette for her continued love and support throughout the years.
Marshall's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, 11:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery and Memorial Park 3401 S Highland Dr, Millcreek UT.
