Michael Francis Bawden

Michael was born on October 5, 1949, in Berkeley, California, to Marvin Dayton Bawden and Wilma Grace Cook. He was raised in Oakland, California, and graduated from Fremont High School.

A convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mike served a mission in the Gulf States and remained a faithful member throughout his life. He had a gift for connecting with others and often shared the gospel with those around him. Known for his generous heart, quick wit, and ability to see the good in people, Mike left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He devoted his professional life to a career in sales, specializing in gemology and security. But above all, Michael’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.

Michael was first married to Stephanie Roberts in the Salt Lake City Temple, and together they had four spirited and beautiful daughters. He later married Deborah Anderson, gaining the sons he had always hoped for. He loved and cared deeply for each of his children. After the passing of his daughter Rachel in 2004, he and Deborah raised her daughter, Javen Bawden, as their own.

He is survived by his daughters Heidi, Monica, and Jessica Bawden; sons Todd and Nicholas Anderson; granddaughter Javen Bawden; and great-grandchildren Camille and Iverson Bawden and Riley and Gracyn Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Anderson Bawden and daughter Rachel Bawden.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 114 South 400 West, Orem, Utah 84058. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and church service will begin at 10am.

Michael will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah 84106 at 12:00 p.m. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
