1930 - 2017
Our beautiful, loving, sweet mother, Patricia Platt Stephens-Ericson, age 86, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 surrounded by family at Legacy House, Taylorsville, Utah after waiting over 25 years to be reunited with her sweetheart, Cliff. Born to Edward Orson and Irene Brown Platt on November 20, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the fourth of six daughters. Attended East High School and the University of Utah. Married her high school sweetheart Clifford Allen Stephens February 8, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her beloved, Cliff, passed away in 1991. Years later she married a good friend and companion, Charles Lee Ericson, who passed away in 2013.
Patty had a passion for music and singing which brought her great joy. She loved sharing her beautiful alto voice in ward choirs, especially when Cliff directed them. She was a talented seamstress and fantastic cook. Her fruit slush, brownies, and potato salad were the hit at any event. Pat spent many cherished hours poring over puzzles and enjoying games with her family and friends. She enjoyed camping and traveling.
Patricia’s main focus was always her seven children. Her greatest joy was when her whole family was happily gathered. Spending time with her grandchildren was always a delight and she rarely missed their events or performances.
With a tender heart and compassionate soul, Patricia truly blessed the lives of others. She graciously offered love and service to family members, friends, and strangers wherever she saw a need. When we think of our mother, we think SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE - she spent her life in the service of others. It was never about her, it was always about everyone else. Many in her far-reaching circle of loved ones were celebrated with a nice card and personal note on special occasions – she was the “Card Queen.”
Patricia loved the Lord and had a Firm Testimony of the Gospel. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in various callings, her favorite being a valiant visiting teacher. She loved serving in the Jordan River and Salt Lake Temples. One of the highlights of her life was serving a Nauvoo Temple Mission with Lee.
“Well done Thou Good and Faithful Servant.” Mission Fulfilled!
Pat is survived by four sons and three daughters, Allen (Kathy), Julie (Lance) Jacob, April (Mike) Faldmo, Chris, Tracy Kirschenbaum, Bryan (Lisa), and Ted, all of Salt Lake City; 27 adoring grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; Sister-in-law, Jean Anderson, Brother-in-law, John Adams. She loved the wonderful Ericson Family and always considered them her own. Proceeded in death by many family members including her two husbands, parents and sisters: Donnette, Carolyn, Gayle, Kathleen, and Rosemary.
The family would like to thank all those who blessed Pat throughout her life, including many cherished friends. We want to thank the sweet workers at Legacy House of Taylorsville and the Aspire Health and Hospice workers who lovingly cared for Pat during the last year.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, 12 noon, at the LDS Winder 3rd Ward Chapel, 4551 S 1200 E, Salt Lake City, Utah 84117. Family and friends are also invited to attend a viewing prior to the services from 10-11:40 am. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
