Ralph Milligan Sivertson (60) of Sandy, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, surrounded by his family after a battle with glioblastoma. He faced this challenge with the same warmth and humor he brought to every part of his life.
Ralph was born on October 23, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the fourth of five children of Richard and Shirley. He grew up in Holladay, Utah with his siblings Todd and Scott. He also had two sisters: Tara, who passed away at age seven, and Susanne, who passed away shortly after birth. As a young man, he ran track and field and worked his first jobs at KFC, Snelgrove’s, Baskin Robbins, and the first bagel shop in Utah.
Ralph met Maria, his beloved wife, in high school, where they were assigned as locker partners and never went their separate ways. They were married on December 14, 1985, and later sealed as a family in the Seattle Washington Temple. Together, they built a life rooted in love and partnership, raising five children and facing every season side by side.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, Ralph served as an Elders Quorum President, in the Young Men’s program, and on the stake high council. He also devoted many hours to the Church’s Addiction Recovery Program, walking alongside others through some of the most difficult times in their lives.
Ralph was an entrepreneur who owned multiple businesses over the years, including auto sales, real estate and private lending. He was known for his generosity and willingness to help others, whether a friend or a stranger, often going out of his way to make sure people had what they needed.
He loved traveling with Maria and their children to places like Lake Powell, Norway, New York, San Juan Capistrano, Huntington Beach, Disneyland, Destin, Fort Lauderdale, Strawberry Reservoir for snowmobiling, and Hawaii, as well as spending summers boating on local lakes.
He loved ice cream. A week rarely passed without an invitation to Baskin Robbins or Nelson’s Frozen Custard. If you stopped by his house, you would likely be asked, “Want some ice cream?” preferably with chocolate hard shell on top.
Ralph deeply loves his five grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He lit up the moment they walked through the door, often with backyard games already set up including metal detector treasure hunts, toy rocket launchers and giant bubble machines. He cherished his trips to St. George to visit his only granddaughter, Aceley.
Ralph had a lifelong appreciation for cars, something that began at a young age. At 14, he and his friends pooled their money to buy a car, keeping it hidden down the street. His first official car, a Datsun 210, was purchased with help from his mother after she noticed the license plate already read “RALPHY.” Over the years, that interest became a way he served others, often helping people find or fix a car, and at times quietly providing one to someone in need.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Maria; his mother, Shirley Parker; his five children, Cassie Sivertson, Zach (Whitnie) Sivertson, Ethan Sivertson, Josh (Claire) Sivertson, Madie (Carson) Ambrose; his five grandchildren, Easton Sivertson, Landon Sivertson, Cody Sivertson, Blake Sivertson, Aceley Espinoza; his brothers, Todd Sivertson and Scott Sivertson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” Sivertson; his sisters, Suzanne Sivertson and Tara Sivertson.
