Rex Thomas England, Tom or Tommy, passed away on July 20, 2025, in South Jordan, Utah, at the age of 83. Born on August 21, 1941, in Logan, Utah, Tom brought humor, warmth, and dedication to every chapter of his life.
Tom spent his early years in Logan and Idaho before growing up in Rose Park, Utah. He was an avid participant in church softball and basketball, which in his day was a very big deal. He served in the Air National Guard and built a career in public service. After working for many years at the U.S. Post Office, he returned to school and began a second career in vocational rehabilitation, helping individuals with disabilities gain the skills and support they needed to find meaningful work and live independently. He retired from the Utah Department of Rehabilitation with pride, having made a difference in many lives.
Tom had a deep love of sports, particularly cheering for his beloved Utah Jazz, Utah Utes, Anaheim Angels, and the Philadelphia Phillies. He loved to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s games, concerts, and events. He loved writing, creating poems and books for his family to read. He was known for his silly jokes, poems, and tongue twisters. Favorites like “Ooey Gooey was a worm…” and “Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear…” brought smiles to generations of grandkids and many eyerolls from his children.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tom served in many callings and treasured his full-time mission to New Zealand. His life was marked by service, humor, and love of family.
