ZoeJane Maelynn Betker, age 13, surrounded by her loved ones, returned to the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 21, 2023. She was born to loving parents on January 26, 2010, in West Valley City, Utah.
ZoeJane loved life. She loved all types of music, loved to dance, and perform, loved to taunt, and tease her brothers, and took the world on daily with her signature fire and sass, teasing her father even in her last moments.
She was diagnosed with DIPG, a form of pediatric brain cancer on December 29th, 2017. ZoeJane was rare in her diagnosis, her journey, and her heart. Given an initial 6 to 9-month life expectancy she proved how rare she was continuing the fight against DIPG for more than five and a half years. During which time, she inspired thousands of people with her bravery and strength. She had many beautiful experiences, traveled to many wonderful places, and met many incredible people who became part of her family along the way.
ZoeJane was so much more than her cancer she was a daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. She had dreams to be a makeup influencer, to experience college, to find love and become a mother and see the world. She loved to make videos, and to make others laugh. ZoeJane's love for her family was infinite, and her sunshine brought joy to their lives every day.
She is survived by parents Jamie (Percival) Betker and Michael Steven Betker and her adoring siblings Austin William-Edward Betker and Dylan Bradley Betker.
In addition to her immediate family, ZoeJane is also survived by her grandparents Virgil and Janet (Perry) Percival, who held a special place in her heart. She shared a close bond with her Aunts and Uncles, Shane and Meagon Percival, Torrey and Amber Percival, Corey and Niki Percival; and cousins, Kelsey, Carson, Peyton, Devon, and Aubree, step cousins Brady, Isaac, Kali and extended family and friends.
ZoeJane was preceded in death by her grandmother Gail Marie Giordano and grandfather Douglas Edward Betker.
While we mourn the loss of our dear ZoeJane, we find comfort in the knowledge that families are eternal, and we look forward to the day when we will be reunited with her in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
