Born December 5, 1942 in McComas West Virginia he was the son of Robert Lee Saddler Sr and Margaret Lunsford Saddler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters – Betty Wright, Thelma Saddler and Dolly Fagg.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marcia Glass Saddler and children Connie Drennen of Elliston, Virginia, Pamela Mann and husband M. Duane of Elliston, Virginia, Jennifer Candler and husband Phillip of Bluefield West Virginia, Robert (Bobby) Saddler III and wife Jennifer of Lakeland, Florida. His brother and closest friend Ted Saddler and wife Vickie of Galax Virginia. Grandchildren Jared, Madison, and Morgan Cook, Olivia Mann, Noah and Jonah Saddler. And great Grandchildren Odessa, Orson, Finn, Raylee and Jolena. And his many nieces and nephews.
After graduating in 1960 from Montcalm High School in West Virginia, he enlisted in the Air Force where he worked on navigation and guidance systems at Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah Georgia. Later he continued that type of work for Page Aircraft Maintenance at Fort Stewart in Georgia.
But His heart was in the West Virginia mountains with his family so he and Marcia returned to raise their children there. He spent several years with Appalachian Power before opening the family business – The Which Craft and Frame Shop in the Bluefield Area. He really enjoyed meeting and working with people and counted his employees and customers among his many friends. He truly never met a stranger.
Retiring to Florida in 2000 he found retirement didn’t suit him, so he took a job with Plant City maintaining their traffic signal system.
But again, the mountains and his family called him back and he and Marcia have spent the last few years in a small Virginia town halfway between Bluefield and Salem.
Throughout his life, he had many different hobbies and interests, but he always loved traveling and seeing new places. Together with family and friends he had visited 49 states and many foreign countries.
A memorial service is being planned for the family at a later date at which time he will be interred at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin Virginia.
The family would like to thank all of you who have expressed your prayers and sympathy. It is comforting to know so many thought so highly of him. He will be missed.
