

Benjamin Edwin Powell, 91, passed away May 30, 2015. Ed was born October 15, 1923 in Gold Point, NC, to the late John Augustus Powell and Sarah Jane Keel. He married Edith Hall Everett of Robersonville, NC, and they were married 51 years. Ed first worked as a foreman at Dixie Motor Company in Williamston, NC until 1962, at which time he started farming and farmed for 26 years. He was a lifetime deacon of Robersonville First Baptist Church and was a World War II veteran. He enjoyed playing golf for many years at the Robersonville Country Club.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Hall Powell, brothers Cecil and Vance Powell, and sisters Elizabeth Taylor and Ottalie Warren. He is survived by a son, Eddie Powell, of Greer, SC, a daughter, Vickie Powell Everett, of Robersonville, NC, and a special friend, Dorothy Weathersby, of Fountains Cross Roads, NC. Ed had a granddaughter, Nicole Everett Rogers and husband, Jim, a grandson, Roy Hilton (Trey)Everett, III, both of Winterville, NC, and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM on Tuesday, June 2 at Biggs Funeral Home in Robersonville, NC,. Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Robersonville, NC at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 3. Burial will take place at Marin Memorial Gardens, Everetts, NC.
