
Caswell Daniel “C.D.” Forbes, 79, died Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Gold Point Church of Christ with Chris Minton and Tim Harris officiating; burial will follow in the Robersonville Cemetery.
Mr. Forbes was born in Martin County on November 4, 1935 son of the late Caswell Walter and Rosie Mae Cowan Forbes Keith. “C.D.”. was educated at Brevard Community College in Cocoa Florida and received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida. He was retired as Chief, of Launch Communications at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. He supported the Under Secretary of the United States Air Force for space. Also he interfaced between Eastern Test Range and Mission Director for all classified Satellite Launches. “CD” held one of the highest security clearances of the United States Government. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
After living in Merritt Island Florida for more than 50 years he moved back to Robersonville approximately 3 years ago. While in Florida he and his family were active in the First Assembly of God Church in Cocoa. He and his son attended Gold Point Church of Christ.in Gold Point. His wife Edith Lee Porter preceded him in death. Brothers James Wayland Forbes, Walter Mayo Forbes, sister Zula Mae Forbes, step father Roy Milton “Pappy” Keith, step brother Gene Keith, and step sister Dorothy Cherry all preceded him in death.
Survivors are a son James Douglas Forbes of the home, sister Brenda Kay Forbes-Jones of Robersonville and step sister Louise Mendenhall.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8:00 PM at Biggs Funeral Home in Robersonville and other times at 1512 Flat Swamp Church Road Robersonville NC.
