John Edgar Nelson

John Edgar Nelson, 93, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at his home. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Robersonville First United Methodist Church with Rev Ron Elkins officiating; burial will follow at Martin Memorial Gardens.

John was born in Martin County on January 11, 1922, son of the late John Richard and Lela Warren Nelson. He was retired from Smith-Johnson where he worked as a salesman for many years. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a World War II veteran of the United States Army.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Margaret Davis and Kathleen Jenkins and a brother Cecil Nelson. On July 4, 1946 he married Marjorie Ford Nelson who survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are a son John H Nelson and wife Pat of Robersonville, grandchildren John L Nelson and wife Melody of Hassell, Sara Johnston and husband Stewart of Topsail Beach and 5 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday 1 hour prior to the funeral service at the First United Methodist Church and other times at the residence 107 Dogwood Ave.
