Odis Whitaker

Mr. Odis Whitaker, 87, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at his home. The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at the Robersonville First Baptist Church with Dr James O. Hagwood and Rev Brooks Wadsworth officiating; burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery.

Mr Whitaker was born in Edgecombe County on November 4, 1927. He was the son of the late Llewelyn and Ethie Rogerson Whitaker. On August 31, 1975 he retired from the United States Army. He was a long time member of the Robersonville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, also he served as Past Master of Stonewall Lodge #296 AF & AM for several years.

On March 15, 1949 he married Christine Jones Whitaker who survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter Cynthia Whitaker of Mechanicsville, VA, son Bill Whitaker of Robersonville, half-sisters Irene White and Ann Bryant, half-brothers Vance White, and Durwood White, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday December 24, 2014 from 6-8:00 PM at Biggs Funeral Home in Robersonville and other times at the residence 1667 Flat Swamp Church Road, Robersonville NC.
