Daniel Castillo passed away on June 14, 2026, at the age of 59. Lovingly known as Danny or Danny Boy, he was born on December 21, 1966, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Aurora G. Castillo and Raul S. Castillo. The youngest of the three Castillo children, Danny was deeply loved by his family and leaves behind a legacy of joy, resilience, and unconditional love.
Danny’s life was a testament to perseverance, faith, and the power of love. Early in his life, his parents were told that he might only live to the age of eight and were advised to consider placing him in a specialized care facility. Raul and Aurora rejected that recommendation, firmly expressing that Danny was their son and would be loved, included, and given the same experiences as his siblings. Through Jehovah God’s grace, the dedication of his family, and his own remarkable spirit, Danny lived a full and meaningful life, touching countless hearts along the way.
Danny was known for his loving and gentle nature. He was a true teddy bear—kindhearted, affectionate, and happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. His love for Jehovah God, his family, and his friends was at the center of his world, and he cherished every opportunity to be together, whether for celebrations, congregation meetings, conventions, or simply time spent in one another’s company. Children were naturally drawn to Danny’s warm spirit and genuine kindness, and his gentle demeanor made him a comforting presence. Though Danny was non-verbal, he said so much without saying a word, often bringing smiles and joy to others through his irresistible laugh. He is also affectionately remembered for carrying his beloved Ernie and keeping his treasured stuffed animals close by, familiar parts of Danny that everyone knew and loved.
Danny’s life reminds us that a person's impact is not measured by accomplishments or possessions, but by the love they share. Through his smiles, hugs, and unwavering affection, he taught those around him the importance of kindness, acceptance, and finding happiness in life's simple moments.
We look forward to Danny being reunited with his parents, Aurora and Raul Castillo; his paternal grandparents, Elvira and Demencio Castillo; and his maternal grandparents, Aurora and Amador Garza, in Jehovah’s promised paradise soon to come.
He will be remembered for his big happy smile, gentle heart, loving spirit, and the joy he brought to his family, including his siblings, Raul “Roy” A. Castillo (Rhonda) and Leticia “Lety” V. Castillo; his nieces, Jaclyn E. Marroquin (Sean Cody) and Janelle E. Santos (Mauro Jr.); his nephew, Ethan Carlisle; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth G. Castillo; his aunt, Lilia S. Castillo; his great-nephew, Luca A. Marroquin; and numerous extended family members and friends.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff of Cimarron Nursing Home for the love, care, and attention they gave Danny Boy throughout the last seven years. They will always be remembered as Danny’s Cimarron family. Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave so freely—and the beautiful memories he leaves behind—will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
The Memorial for Daniel is pending and will be updated as soon as the details are finalized.
