Ethel Vigil Ebner – 85, a long time resident of New Mexico fell asleep in death peacefully with family and friends by her side at home as she wished on Sunday, Nov. 3rd, 2024, in Corpus Christi TX, where she resided the past 5 years. Ethel was born in Las Cruces, NM on October 17, 1939 to Frank G. and Elisa P. Vigil. Ethel was known to her family by the name SISTER while her husband fondly called her ECHO. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, her favorite game was Rummy, she was a Bingo Player and enjoyed going to the Casinos. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting and gardening. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Eagles (FOE) in New Mexico and enjoyed volunteering with the elections, community events and school functions and field trips with her grandchildren. Her favorite music was Spanish and Country Western. She enjoyed attending gatherings with her family. Ethel loved to sing and dance to her favorite songs while her brothers played musical instruments. Ethel is fondly known for her farm life stories she would share to all who she met, always getting the last laugh, her witty humor, her spunky vibrant smiles, kindness and unselfish generosity in helping others. She never would tell you “good-bye”, rather she would tell you “see you later alligator” in which she expects you to say “after while crocodile” in turn she will say “what for dinosaur!” or her other famous saying “toodle-loo!” She loved making peanut butter cookies and oatmeal cookies, her infamous tortillas she would call her “crackers” and her hot taco sauce with jalapenos. But of course her all-time favorite is Almond Joy candy. Ethel would always say of herself “I would rather be outside tending the garden than inside doing the cooking.”
