Francisco "Frank" Ortiz

Francisco Ortiz, entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on July 30, 2026 at the age of 81. He was born in Del Rio, Texas on March 9, 1945 to parents, Julia Chacon and Vivian Ortiz. Francisco was a man who believed in responsibility, hard work, and taking care of the people he loved. He lived his life with a strong sense of duty, both in his years of military service and in the life he built for his family.

Francisco proudly served in the United States Navy from January 11, 1965, through December 9, 1974. His years of service were an important part of his life, reflecting the discipline, dedication, and sense of responsibility that would remain with him long after his military career ended.

Before and throughout his working years, Francisco built a reputation as a hardworking man who was never afraid to put in the effort necessary to provide for his family. He graduated from Del Mar College as a diesel mechanic. He worked as a mechanic, putting his skills and hands to work to make a living. He later worked in security as a guard for 49 years.

Francisco understood that providing for a family sometimes meant making sacrifices. He worked two jobs at times to make sure his loved ones had what they needed. To him, taking care of his family was simply what a husband and father was supposed to do. At home, Francisco was a devoted husband who loved his family deeply. He took his role seriously and wanted the best for those he loved. His firmness came from wanting to guide and protect his children, while his actions revealed the softer side of a man who cared deeply about their future and well-being.

Francisco will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Julia and Vivian Ortiz; siblings, Guadalupe, Mary Jane, Anabelia, Ramon, Jorge, Refugio and Balmar; and brother-in-law, Mike Chavarria.

Francisco’s legacy will continue living in his loving wife, Mary Jane Ortiz; children, Sharon, Frank Jr., Gary and Brian and wife Jessica Chavarria; grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Eliahji, Zayden, Daphne, Serenity, Haylee; sisters-in-law, Diana Chavarria and Eliza Alvarez, brothers-in-law, Mario Chavarria, and Robert Chavarria. Friends, Gracie Salinas, Lynette Bryanwood, Jennifer and Bradley Poteet and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Francisco will be remembered as a responsible and hardworking man, a devoted husband, and a father who gave everything he could to his family. His life was built on service, sacrifice, and love, and the values he lived by will continue through the family he worked so hard to protect and provide for.

Visitation will be held at Solid Rock Church, 3035 Ayers St, Corpus Christi, TX 78404, US, on August 31, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Solid Rock Church, 3035 Ayers St, Corpus Christi, TX 78404, US, on August 31, 2026, at 12:00 pm. A Committal Service will be held at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410, US, on August 31, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
