Juanita "Janie" V. Garcia of Robstown, Texas, passed away on April 20, 2025, at the age of 63. She was born on December 21, 1961, in Raymondville, Texas, and was a proud member of the Galvan family—the beloved granddaughter of the late Faustino and Saida Moreno Galvan.
Janie worked as a dedicated HealthCare Provider, always caring for others with compassion and grace. She had a deep love for movies—favorites included Sister Act, The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, and A League of Their Own. Her love of music was just as vibrant, with artists like Selena, Los Palominos, and Bobby Pulido filling her home and heart.
Quiet, selfless, and giving, she was soft-spoken but carried the biggest heart. She always went above and beyond for her children and grandchildren, never hesitating to put their needs before her own. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and magic, where she worked miracles with love in every dish.
She was the kindest soul—gentle, strong, and full of grace. Her love will live on in the lives she touched and the family she so dearly cherished.
Janie will be affectionately remembered for her infectious laugh and graciously sharing her beacon of light to all.
She was deeply devoted to her family, playing a vital role in caring for her mother, raising her children, and nurturing her grandchildren with unwavering love and dedication.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Guadalupe Ramona Galvan Cantu; her father, Juan de Dios Valdez and niece, Genevie Galvan.
Janie is survived by her beloved sons, Juan Antonio Cantu and Hjoe Edi Garcia, and her only daughter, Elizabeth Ann Garcia. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jasmine Genesis Ahedo, Nathan Elijah Cantu, Dylan Luke Cantu, Christopher Michael Rojas, Victoria Rojas, and Steven Gabriel Rojas, Jr.
She is also survived by her loving siblings: Maria Jesusita Valdez, Maria Christina Deanda, Laurencia Valdez, and Michelle Ramirez; her beloved nieces, Pamela Denise Gonzalez; and her nephews, Alejandro Muro, David Muro, Miguel Muro, Ben Zapata, Matthew Zapata, Noe Galvan, Jr., Santos Galvan, and Angel Galvan and her stepfather, Fernando Cantu. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the care and compassion shown to their loved one during her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass in her honor at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on May 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4607 FM 1889, Robstown, TX 78380.
