Ofelia Kushmer, a resident of Tampa, Florida, entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on July 11, 2026 at the age of 91. She was born in Millet, Texas on January 19, 1935 to parents, Lucia Renteria and Ramon Flores.
Some of life's greatest gifts are found in the people who make a house feel like a home. For Ofelia, that gift came naturally. She found her greatest purpose not in seeking the spotlight, but in caring for those she loved.
In 1957, Ofelia married John Kushmer Jr., in Tampa, Florida. As a devoted homemaker, Ofelia poured her heart into caring for her family. Cooking was one of the many ways she expressed her love, and her kitchen became a place where everyone felt welcome. She found joy in preparing meals, gathering loved ones around the table, and creating the kind of home that was always filled with comfort, laughter, and togetherness.
What Ofelia cherished most wasn't found in grand adventures or extravagant moments—it was simply being together. Whether sharing stories around the dinner table, celebrating holidays, or enjoying an ordinary afternoon with the people she loved, she understood that life's greatest blessings were found in those everyday moments that often become the most cherished memories.
She possessed a lighthearted spirit that made others feel at ease. Her laughter was genuine, contagious, and filled every room with warmth. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could always find a reason to smile, bringing comfort and happiness to those around her. Above all, Ofelia loved deeply. She gave of herself without expecting anything in return, always putting the needs of her family before her own.
She will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Lucia and Ramon Flores; son, David Anzaldua and siblings, Maria Gonzales, Consuelo Flores, Olivia Anzaldua, Victor Flores, Gilbert Flores, Ruben Flores, and Elva Flores.
Ofelia’s memory will forever live in her son, James Kushmer; siblings, Elsa Flores, Lilly Rosa, and Ramon Flores Jr., numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as everyone that loved her . Her life was a beautiful reflection of selflessness, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family.
The Kushmer family would like to give a special thanks for all the prayers and everyone who showered them with their concerns and their love, it is so greatly appreciated.
