

Richard had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and loved hunting, collecting guns, knives, and spending time in nature. He and his family enjoyed traveling together. They traveled to 49 of the 50 states — with Hawaii remaining the only one they never made it to.
Richard dedicated many years to working in the oilfield before becoming an oilfield consultant and eventually owning and operating his own business. His strong work ethic and deep knowledge of the industry earned him the respect of many throughout his career.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two brothers, three sisters, and their spouses.
Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years Cynthia Strong, their children Darrell and Melissa. His siblings Shirley Greene, Terry Strong Brake (Jack), and children Marshall, Halie, Jessica, brother in law Mike Rusher (Pam), niece Stacy Wallace, and children Bethany, Josiah, Braydon, niece Sandra (Travis) Burnett, and family Wyatt, McKenzie, nephew Phil (Della) Rusher, and family Courtney, Brittany, Kaleigh, Jewel, Logan, Reese, and many more nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel-Memorial Park, located at 4607 FM 1889, Robstown, TX 78380, on November 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A private family ceremony will be held at Memorial Park.
