Donna Kay (Lindoerfer) Durbin, a lifelong advocate for foster care and family values, lost her battle with cancer, on Thursday, August 13th, 2015, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice, Bettendorf, with her family by her side.
The 73-year-old mother of three sons, Jason, a Chicago firefighter and twin sons, Jimmy and Joseph, both in the cleaning business, was the consummate caregiver. Her challenges always carried a big wide smile in helping her children, past foster children who she kept in contact as they matured to respected and loving adults.
Her husband, Richard was always at her side for her 41 years of marriage, as they took on the tough and sometime bumpy roads that face most parents. The word Donna would always calmly call her caring husband was the soothing, respected and loving, 'Honey.' Caring and compassion also led to so many joyous times in her life.
A lifelong resident of the Quad-Cities, Mrs. Durbin was born November 19, 1941. She showed her attitude of being there for help with her three sons and husband, Richard who she would say was my 'fishing partner' and cherished partner in life.
A graduate of Rock Island High School and school-trained hair stylist, she took time in previous years to extend her skill by offering beautician services to the elderly at retirement centers throughout the Quad-Cities.
Donna was always an inspiration to her brother, Dean, who was afflicted with polio and supported him on his road to recovery.
Donna's lasting words, always with the one gigantic smile, 'I'm ready now to go home.'
Donna is survived by her husband Richard; three sons, Jason (Lisa), Chicago, twin sons Jimmy and Joseph of Moline; brother and sister-in-law law, Dean and Vicki Lindoerfer, Denver, CO; grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Samantha, Joshua, Kaylyn, Dylan, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her father, Alwin F. Lindoerfer, former co-owner of Hodgson Funeral Home , and mother, Gertrude (Heseman) Lindoerfer.
Visitation will be at Hodgson Funeral Home from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 16th. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Private cremation will follow services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences and memories may be shared at hodgsonfuneralhome.com.
