Marlene was born on April 22, 1948, in Chicago, the daughter of Robert L. and Helen A. Potoniec Thomas. She received her nursing degree in May 1969 from the Oak Park School of Nursing. She married Thomas McIntyre on Sept. 5, 1977, in Rock Island.
Marlene was a dedicated registered nurse who loved her work; her favorite was working in the labor and delivery wards at hospitals. Over the years she worked for several hospitals and medical centers, including the former Franciscan in Rock Island and Moline Public. She retired in 1999 after working as a traveling nurse throughout the Midwest, as well as in other areas of the country.
In her free time, Marlene loved and spoiled her pets. She enjoyed reading, music, drawing and painting, and playing games on the computer.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Thomas; son, Robbie McIntyre; stepdaughter, Shayla McCubbin; granddaughter, Kaelan Bradley; grandson, Carter Cumberworth; sisters, Deborah Earl, Roberta Oratowski, Kate Oliver, and Leslie Thomas. Her parents, and a sister, Carolyn Mary Berry, preceded Mrs. McIntyre in death.
